At what time is NAV calculated for mutual funds, and why does CubePlus display the previous day’s NAV?

The Net Asset Value (NAV) of a mutual fund represents the per-unit market value of all assets held by the scheme, adjusted for expenses. NAV is a critical metric used to determine the value of your investments and is updated once every trading day.

When Is the NAV Computed?
NAV is calculated at the end of each trading day, after the market closes at 3:30 PM (IST). The fund house computes it based on the day’s closing prices of the securities in the mutual fund portfolio.
a. Equity and Debt Mutual Funds: NAV is typically finalized and published by 11:00 PM on the same business day.
b. Fund of Funds (FoFs): These funds may declare NAVs by 10:00 AM on the next business day due to additional dependencies in valuation.

Why Does CubePlus Display the Previous Working Day's NAV?
Since NAV is only declared after market hours, the most recently available NAV at the time of order placement on CubePlus is that of the previous working day (T-1).
In certain cases, especially with Fund of Funds or schemes with delayed computation cycles, the NAV shown may be from T-2 (two working days prior). This variation is entirely dependent on the NAV release schedule set by the respective fund house and not a delay on CubePlus.

Summary:
a. NAV is computed post-market close each day.
b. CubePlus reflects the most recent NAV published by the AMC.
c. Depending on the scheme type, the NAV displayed may be for T-1 or T-2 day.

This ensures transparency and consistency with industry-standard NAV publication timelines.
