Can I pledge cash as collateral for the Commodity segment margin?
Cash transferred and allocated to the Commodity segment acts as cash collateral and is considered part of your available margin for MCX trades. Unlike shares that require pledge authorization via CDSL, cash is automatically credited once successfully added and allocated.
Cash transferred through CubePlus using payment gateway after selecting the required segment will be auto credited to the respective segment for trading. The funds transferred directly using external apps or net banking will be auto allocated to the Equity segment. If the directly transferred fund is required for MCX trading, you need to request the same through back office segment transfer. However segment transfer requested on a calendar day will reflect in trading during the next working day.
There is no separate 'pledge' process for cash, but allocation to the correct segment is mandatory. If you mistakenly add cash to the Equity segment, you’ll need to shift it to Commodity using the Segment Transfer option in the back office.
