The first two parts of this series covered creating Shields using the three available exit types: Profit & Loss, Time, and ATO. Once created, these Shields need to be managed as market conditions change. This final part explains how to access the management screen, edit or delete an existing Shield, identify protected positions from the Positions tab, and understand which exit type is best suited for different trading situations.
Manage Shield Entries as the home screen
Every Shield created in the first two parts of this series is managed from a single screen called Manage Shield Entries. It can be accessed from the Shield button on the Positions tab or by selecting Set New Condition from the top-right corner to create another Shield without returning to the Positions screen.
Starting a fresh shield directly from Manage Shield Entries, without returning to Positions.
The screen has four tabs: ALL, P&L, Time, and ATO, allowing Shields to be filtered by exit type. Within each tab, entries are grouped under Conditional Sets for Shields created with Activate Shield and Alerts for those created with Set Alert, as explained in Part 2. The ALL tab brings every Shield together in one place, making it easy to manage P&L, Time, and ATO based exits without having to remember which tab they were created under.
Editing a shield already in place
Market conditions can change quickly, and an exit rule that made sense earlier in the session may need to be adjusted later. Instead of deleting and recreating a Shield, it can be edited directly from the Manage Shield Entries screen. Each Shield includes a pencil icon for editing, a trash icon for deletion, and its current status.
The pencil icon opens a shield for editing; the trash icon removes it.
Opening a Shield for editing displays all the positions currently protected by it. Individual positions can be removed using the delete icon, while Add Positions allows more positions to be included. The exit conditions below, whether Profit & Loss, Time, or ATO, remain fully editable.

Selecting Add Positions opens a list of positions not already covered by the Shield, each with a checkbox, while the existing positions remain visible for reference. Select the additional positions and click Save And Update to include them in the Shield.

Any change made to a Shield, whether adding or removing a position or modifying its exit conditions, requires confirmation before it is applied.

Once confirmed, a success message is displayed along with a reference number for the update, following the same process used when a Shield is first activated.

A cancelled Shield remains visible on the Manage Shield Entries screen with a Cancelled status. This preserves a record of previously created Shields instead of removing them as soon as they are deactivated.
Spotting a shielded position from the Positions tab
Shield status is also visible from the Positions tab. Any position protected by an active Shield displays a shield icon beside it, and hovering over the icon confirms that a Shield is active for that position. The Shield button also shows the total number of active Shields on the account.

Choosing between the three
The three exit types are designed for different situations rather than different levels of sophistication. Each addresses a different exit condition, and the nature of the position usually makes the most suitable choice clear.
| Exit Trigger | What it watches | Where it tends to fit |
|---|---|---|
| P&L | The combined profit or loss of the selected positions, in rupees | A position with a clear amount in mind to book or to cut, regardless of when that level is reached |
| Time | The clock | A position that must be closed by a specific time regardless of where its P&L stands, such as ahead of an expiry or a scheduled event |
| ATO | The price or trading activity of any instrument, including one different from the position itself | A position whose exit depends on a level in the underlying index or another reference instrument rather than on the position's own price |
None of the three exit types replaces the others. A single account can run multiple Shields at the same time, with each one protecting different positions or serving a different purpose. Profit & Loss is best suited for traders who prefer fixed profit or loss based exits. Time is a natural choice for positions linked to scheduled events, expiries, or a fixed square-off time. ATO is more suitable when the exit depends on the movement of an underlying instrument, such as an index, rather than the position's own price. Combined with the choice between Activate Shield and Set Alert, Shield allows traders to automate exits or receive timely alerts without continuously monitoring their positions.
