How can I switch from a regular mutual fund investment to a direct plan?

Regular mutual fund investments cannot be directly converted to direct mutual funds. This is because regular and direct plans are treated as separate schemes under SEBI regulations, even if they belong to the same mutual fund.

If you wish to switch from a regular plan to a direct plan, you need to follow this process:

1. Redeem the Regular Mutual Fund Units
Place a redemption request for the regular mutual fund units you currently hold. Once the funds are credited to your bank account, you can proceed with the next step.

2. Invest in the Direct Plan of the Same Scheme
Use CubePlus to invest in the direct version of the same mutual fund scheme. Direct plans have lower expense ratios and are available through platforms like CubePlus that offer only direct mutual funds.

Please note:

1. Transferring regular mutual fund holdings to Tradejini or CubePlus does not convert them to direct plans. You must redeem and reinvest as described.
2. Before redeeming, consider exit load (if any) and applicable capital gains tax.

This process ensures a clean transition and allows you to benefit from lower costs and better long-term returns through direct plans.
